and yes the "Suspend submissions for this journal" box is unchecked....

When a journal is first created, it has to be approved by Scholastica before submissions can be accepted. We're available at support@scholasticahq.com for any questions about getting journals approved.

Once approved, a journal's administrator can open or close submissions by going to the journal's settings page. Here's some information on that: http://help.scholasticahq.com/customer/portal/articles/1228155#close-submissions-to-your-journal
