The Akron Law Review invites papers regarding the application and impact of the 2015 amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, including articles relating to proportionality and the scope of discovery; protective orders regarding cost-shifting in discovery; sanctions for failing to preserve electronically stored information; measures to promote just, speedy, and inexpensive litigation; court application of the amended discovery rules; and the impact of the rule amendment process on rule content. This symposium issue will be published in the Akron Law Review in the 2017-2018 Academic Year.
The Akron Law Review strives to publish timely, high quality articles. For the five most recent years (2011-2015), the Akron Law Review ranked in the top 62 for student-edited, general journals in the Washington and Lee Law Library law journal rankings for “impact factor” and in the top 63 for student-edited, general journals in the category of “combined score.” This symposium issue will continue the tradition of strong symposium issues in the Akron Law Review, including symposia on the following topics: (1) Justice Scalia’s criminal law and procedure jurisprudence (forthcoming 2017); (2) law and socio-economics (2015); (3) the class action after a decade of Roberts Court class action decisions (2015); (4) women in the law (2014); (5) the practice of law in the wake of Ethics 20/20, globalization, and new technologies (2014); and (6) the next generation of environmental and natural resources law (2013).
We welcome articles and essays of any length. Please submit article proposals by May 15, 2017. We request article submission by September 1, 2017.
