The Chicago-Kent Journal of Intellectual Property welcomes academic and professional author submissions on topics in all areas of intellectual property law including patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and trademarks. Generally, the accepted article is published the semester immediately after the publication offer letter is accepted by both parties. The publication time frame of each accepted article is disclosed on each individual publication offer letter.

We prefer to publish articles that are 12,000–18,000 words in length (excluding citations), but in extraordinary circumstances, will accept articles outside of this range. Generally, we value brevity.

Please note that CKJIP conforms to the most recent edition of the Chicago Manual of Style. Citations are in footnotes, rather than endnotes, and conform to the most recent edition of The Bluebook®.

The Chicago-Kent Journal of Intellectual Property accepts submissions through Scholastica and emails sent to journal@kentlaw.iit.edu (attached as a Word document). All submissions or inquiries regarding the submission of an article should be sent to the attention of the Managing Editor. Please include a resume or curriculum vitae with your submission. After your submission is reviewed, a Journal representative will contact you regarding the next steps toward publication
