CURRENTS: Journal of International Economic Law (CURRENTS: JIEL) invites scholars, practitioners, and researchers to submit their manuscripts for Volume 27. Issues 1 and 2.

Founded in 1991,  CURRENTS: JIEL is part of the Institute for International Legal Practice at South Texas College of Law Houston. The goal of CURRENTS: JIEL is to provide a thorough review of the most pressing issues in international economic law.  At this time of great disruption in international trade and the emergence of technological change through AI,  CURRENTS: JIEL will publish writers seeking to explain and forecast what will or may happen in this field.

CURRENTS: JIEL encourages submission of original, well-researched, thoughtfully argued pieces of varying length – including shorter essays –  that contribute to international economic law theory and practice.  The journal gives priority to submissions between 9,000 – 20,000 words, including footnotes.

Once accepted, each article goes through a rigorous editorial process of sentence structure, grammar review formatting, and citation verification, and will be published right before summer in 2026.

This is a great call for submissions — the focus on AI’s impact on international trade and economic law is very timely. It’s encouraging to see journals like CURRENTS: JIEL supporting thoughtful discussions around technological disruption in global markets. I also explore digital innovation and open-access research topics at jennyminecraft, so I truly appreciate initiatives that promote collaboration between academia and practice.
